SEFA Abidjan Ivory Coast
Norwegian Football Academy supports their football brethren in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, with training, equipment, etc.
Summers 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 we were visited by a boys team from football academy SEFA, from Abidjan in the Ivory Coast in West Africa. Sporty responsible in NFA, Thierry Kopp, started this soccer academy in West Africa in 1999. Since then akadmiet developed many good players. SEFA participated in Norway Cup for the first time in 2006. The team did a fantastic achievement and won Norway’s Cup class, boys 16 years, with 244 participating teams from many countries. In the final, beating SEFA Abidjan the Mexican club Cruz Azul great, who had won the last three years. A deserved victory for the highly talented and spirited football boys!
In 2007, 2008 and 2009 participated in both made Dana Cup (along with an NFA-layer) and the Norway Cup. SEFA these years has shown a lot of good games, and this year topped this with 2nd place in the Dana Cup (lost to Velje FA in final) and 1st place in the Norway Cup (beating Kolbotn in the final) in the last junior year for many of the boys. This year’s performance also made the boys were “discovered” and the two have signed with Moss FK and two FC Lyn.
That these guys have developed very good skills also confirmed by interest from French top clubs, which have looked at some of these. Five players have been on trial in French 1 Division clubs and been offered a contract at different levels. Some of the players have also represented Ivory Coast at the youth national team. Otherwise, it is worth noting that their training policies and programs are identical to those now used by the Norwegian Football Academy, developed and directed by Thierry Kopp. It remains to be seen whether our Norwegian NFA boys can walk the same bright football future ahead!?
